Job Description

Job overview

The IRS is a large multidisciplinary London based community team of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Nurses and Rehab Assistants. We offer physical rehabilitation as an alternative to hospital bed-based rehabilitation, supporting patients to recover at home within their own environment. We work closely with the Inpatient Rehabilitation Services and acute partners to enable early facilitated discharges whilst supporting patients through an intensive rehabilitation programme in the community. As a Band 6 Occupational Therapist within the team, you will manage your own caseload of community patients as well as support the other therapists in the team by providing training, supervision and joint sessions.

Main duties of the job

  1. To work flexibly and assist in effective and efficient delivery of the service.
  2. To prioritise workload, delegate and to supervise more junior staff including support staff and students, to aid provision of high standards of patient care.
  3. To assess the Occupational Therapy needs of a defined patient group and establish and evaluate appropriate treatment plans. This includes chronic, acute and palliative care within own competencies, recognising own limitations and seeking advice when necessary.
  4. To monitor, evaluate and modify treatment for patients with multiple pathologies in order to measure progress and ensure effectiveness of treatment.
  5. To select and apply Occupational Therapy assessments, addressing any skill deficits, enabling patients in the areas of productivity, self and leisure.
