This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated physiotherapist to deliver a high-quality paediatric MSK physiotherapy service. The successful applicant will play a key role in service development, quality improvement, and the implementation of innovative practice to enhance patient care.
Main duties of the job
- To manage and oversee the clinical processes involved in the MSK paediatric physiotherapy department.
- To perform as an autonomous practitioner, using advanced, specialised musculoskeletal assessment of paediatric patients including those with highly complex presentations.
- To assist in the management and planning of education programmes and in the supervision, teaching and appraisal of junior staff, physiotherapy assistants and physiotherapy students.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- Undertake advanced assessment and treatment of children and young people with complex musculoskeletal conditions, applying highly developed clinical reasoning, manual therapy, therapeutic handling, and specialist palpatory skills.
- Manage and address staff performance concerns in line with organisational policies, providing support, supervision, and feedback, and escalating issues to the Clinical Operational Lead where appropriate.
- Hold autonomous responsibility for a complex clinical caseload, independently undertaking all aspects of specialist paediatric musculoskeletal physiotherapy practice and clinical decision-making.
- Contribute to clinical audit, service evaluation, quality improvement, and research activities within the paediatric musculoskeletal service. Analyse findings, develop evidence-based recommendations, and support the implementation of service developments, practice changes, and clinical protocols to enhance patient outcomes and service effectiveness.
Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop-in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.
Probationary Period
This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).
High Cost Area Supplement – Fringe (Basildon, Thurrock, Brentwood, Harlow and Dartford only)
This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 5% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £1,303 to a maximum of £2,198 p.a. pro rata for part time)
