Job Description

Job Overview

We are seeking a dynamic Clinical or Counselling Psychologists to join our well-established Early Intervention in Psychosis (EIP) service in Waltham Forest. The post is a permanent full-time Band 7 position. Training and development opportunities will be available. We hope this exciting post can hold a specialism in trauma-informed work and/community psychology.

Waltham Forest EIP is a supportive multidisciplinary team working with people aged between 14-65 who are experiencing a first episode of psychosis and their family. The successful candidate will work alongside our growing therapy team which includes a Senior Clinical Psychologists, FI therapist, CBTp therapist and Assistant psychologist to deliver individual, group, and family work. They will work closely with the multidisciplinary team and offer support to colleagues on psychological approaches to working with psychosis. Waltham Forest EIP also has an 8b Clinical Psychologist specialising in community psychology across the four NELFT EIP boroughs.

NELFT EI services have practitioners interested in the provision of trauma informed care, with a particular focus on NET and EMDR approaches. The pathway offers numerous supervision and CPD opportunities, including individual and group supervision in CBT for psychosis, group FIp and NET supervision and Autism Assessments such as the ADOS. We offer annual NET training. The Trust has strong links with the UCL, UEL and Royal Holloway clinical psychology courses and several Counselling Psychology courses. The post holder would be supported to participate in teaching and research projects should they wish.

NELFT EIP is a creative and innovative team with excellent joint-working between the boroughs. This has allowed us to work towards more community psychology orientated projects, which psychologists across the boroughs are encouraged to get involved in.

Main duties of the job

This post will suit an enthusiastic clinical/counselling psychologist with an interest in developing their skills in applying evidence-based psychological therapies for people with psychosis and their families.

Additional responsibilities include: Participation in supervision focused on evidence based interventions for psychosis; routine collection of outcome measures and outcome monitoring; supporting our assistant psychologist who offers a well-being and support package to carers; supervision of trainee psychologists where appropriate; supporting the multidisciplinary team to work in psychologically informed ways, and contributing to service evaluation projects. The successful candidate will have one session per week guaranteed for CPD, and will be supported to develop their own area of interest within early intervention in psychosis.
