Infant Feeding Support Worker
We are seeking a dedicated Infant Feeding Support Workerr to join our team at Grays Health Centre.. The successful candidate will play a vital role in delivering enhanced infant feeding support and contributing to the work of the Integrated Universal and Early Intervention Teams.

The Role
As an Infant Feeding Support Worker, you will contribute to the delivery of enhanced infant feeding support and clinical activities in a variety of settings, including clinics, Family Hubs, and home visits. This role involves working closely with health and social care professionals and agencies to ensure a seamless and effective service for families.
- Provide seven-day access to online support, including Facebook, virtual drop-ins, phone/video calls, and text messaging, with next-day responses for out-of-hours inquiries.
- Deliver breastfeeding support through home visits, virtual and face-to-face drop-in groups, antenatal sessions, and clinic support in Family Hubs.
- Host and deliver support groups in collaboration with partners and engage with community-based activities such as baby weigh clinics and stay-and-play sessions.
- Undertake assessments for parents requiring infant feeding support and complete care plan reviews.
- Act as a breastfeeding champion in settings such as GP surgeries and libraries, providing first-line support for the Baby Friendly Initiative (BFI).
- Conduct telephone calls for antenatal, new birth, and three-month contact appointments.
- Provide clerical and administrative support, including typing reports, scheduling appointments, and data input.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
- Experience in providing breastfeeding or infant feeding support, both in person and virtually.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with families and professionals.
- Proficiency in administrative tasks, including typing, data entry, and scheduling appointments.
- Awareness of child protection issues and the ability to report concerns to the appropriate health professional.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team setting.

Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop-in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.
Probationary Period
This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).
High Cost Area Supplement – Fringe (Basildon, Thurrock, Brentwood, Harlow and Dartford only)
This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 5% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £1,303 to a maximum of £2,198 p.a. pro rata for part time)
